Sensorium Chiropractic
Frequently Asked Questions
Chiropractic is a primary health care profession that focusses on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of neuromuscular skeletal conditions of the human body especially the spine.
Chiropractic works by restoring motion to dysfunctional joints of the spine and body using gentle impulses by hand called adjustments. This also has a sensory input that down regulates pain signals.
Here at Sensorium Chiropractic we also look at other areas of your life and help with lifestyle advice and reassurance to help you return to your full potential.
Here at Sensorium Chiropractic we have spent many years ensuring that we are efficient and specific with practical skills. The chiropractic adjustment is a gentle impulse into the restricted joint to restore correct function to that area.
Most of our patients enjoy the adjustment and find relief after receiving it.
There is always a small chance of tenderness post adjustment especially if the area is already inflamed.
The first appointment is the longest due to having to go through any previous medical history and questions regarding your visit to us. Follow up sessions are as long as they need to be, usually they are around 15 minutes.
Once we have spent the time finding out what is causing your pain/complaint then we know exactly what is needed to help you heal.
There are many factors that influence healing times. These include the type of injury and how long the problem has been there. Typically a problem that has been there for a long time will take longer to heal.
Other factors that influence healing are age, stress levels and current health levels. We always look at the patients overall life and give an idea of healing time in the report of findings.
The noise you hear after an adjustment is not a bone being put back in to place.
It is simply a release of gas within the synovial fluid of the joint.
If after the consultation and examination we believe we are not the correct health professional for you, we will discuss a referral to relevant professional.
We have the ability to refer you privately for any imaging you may need as long as it it necessary.
